About Us

A short history of the Georgia Organization of Mothers of Multiples Club, Inc.

Fall 2005

Initial contact began in early fall of 2005 from the President of the Altamaha POM, Odum to the President of the N. Metro MOM in Marietta proposing the notion of forming a Georgia State Organization. The N. Metro MOM President then proposed the State Organization idea to several other clubs in Atlanta. With their interest work began by creating our Logo, Bylaws, Standing Rules and our Mission Statement. Next, we contacted the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs, Inc. (NOMOTC) to inform them that we have begun the process of formation and were seeking any helpful information and direction they could provide. NOMOTC was delighted to hear of our formation process and offered other state contact information and their support.

February 17 2006

On February 17, 2006 five clubs attend the first informal gathering. The clubs represented were the Altamaha POM Odum, Atlanta Triplets & More, Woodstock, N. Fulton, Alpharetta and N. Metro, Marietta. They met to discuss current GOMOM business thus far and plans to announce formation to the other clubs that we knew existed in our state. The first official notification was sent mid April 2006, with the first official meeting set for June 3rd in Macon. Due to illness and the fact that we were still making first contact with several clubs we rescheduled this meeting for July 15, 2006 to accommodate all interested clubs. By this time we had made contact with 15 clubs in Georgia and were delighted with this number as was more than any of us thought there might be.

July 15 2006

At the July 15, 2006 meeting 4 clubs were represented to finalize our business and adopt into action such items as our Bylaws, Standing Rules, Dues, Elections, Website location, Fundraising, Events to name a few plus our next meeting that would take place the 2nd Saturday in October in Atlanta.

Aug 2006

From this point we now are able to offer support and education by way of connecting all of the clubs, parents of multiple birth children and interested professionals in Georgia.

Georgia Organization of Mothers of Multiples Club, Inc. Goals

Make available a resource directory compiled by GOMOM from members informed on where to get information they need throughout the state of Georgia.
Plan fun statewide events that are accessible to members to provide social togetherness beyond the two scheduled business meetings of which one is to be a convention when we are able to.
Establish a member club referral program to ensure all parents of multiple birth children are receiving support by the nearest member club.
Provide a user friendly GOMOM Website with links to current member clubs and up-to-date information on business and events of the GOMOM.
Construct a quarterly newsletter to be received by member clubs and affiliates with useful information about GOMOM and that which is ongoing in our State.
Assist local organizations with tough issues they may encounter.
Be the connecting link between local level clubs and the national level to benefit all multiple birth families in our state as well as our country.
And more to come as we unite and grow together!
